A court in the central province of Nghe An Wednesday sentenced 14 people to between three and 13 years in jail for attempting to overthrow the government, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.

The subversives, led by Ho Duc Hoa, were affiliated to the Viet Tan group, an anti-government terrorist organization, it quoted the indictment as saying.

Its members, including university students and heads of some local companies, received training from the terrorist group in Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, and the US since 2010.

Later they were funded and abetted in plotting subversive schemes.

The ring was busted earlier last year, but three of its members are still at large and wanted by the police.
