Police in Nghe An are investigating an explosion at a wood company that left 11 workers severely wounded on Monday.
“Initial investigation found the blast was from a pipe that supplied fuel for a wood pellet machine,” said Nguyen Trong Tue of Nghi Loc District police.
The incident happened at 9:45 a.m. on Monday at The Gioi Go Viet Nam Company in Nam Cam Industrial Park, Nghi Loc District.
The 11 workers, aged 18-48, suffered serious burns. Two of them were critically injured and had to be sent to a hospital in Hanoi.
One of the victims, Pham Thanh Nhan, said the pipe was fixed on the wall and about three meters from the ground.
“I was standing around four meters away when the deafening blast happened. The fire was everywhere when I tried to run,” he said.
Nghe An authorities have offered each victim VND3 million (US$135).
