One man was killed and a boy was injured in Hanoi Saturday in a shoot-out between two groups fighting over mining of soil.
The dead person was not identified while Chu Ngoc Anh, 15, was injured in his leg, news website VietNamNet reported.
Eyewitnesses in Dan Phuong District said the two were among six men on motorbikes who confronted five rival gang members in a car.
The motorbike gang fired hand-made guns at the car tire, and the car gang let off a Chinese-made gun.
Bystanders helped catch two of the men in the car but police failed to arrest the others.
Police said the gangs had been fighting over extracting soil from a local hill.
Earlier, on November 6 they shot at each other at the site, but no casualties were reported.
Police are investigating.
