One person died and three others were seriously injured when a train crashed into a car at a grade crossing in Vietnam's central province of Nghe An Thursday.
News website VnExpress said the vehicle, a Honda Civic, driven by 38-year-old Phan Son Hao, broke down while crossing a railroad track in Vinh town.
The train slammed into the car even as Hao was trying to restart it, dragging it for more than 200 meters.
Hao died on the spot, while three others, including his wife Tran Thi Nhung, 24, who was five months pregnant, were seriously injured.
Locals and rescue workers broke the car's windows and rushed the victims to the hospital.
The three survivors' condition stabilized later that day, news website Dan Tri quoted the Nghe An General Hospital as saying.
Reportedly the grade crossing has no barrier, it said, adding there were no problems with the signal or speakers.
Police are investigating.
