One person was killed and at least 15 others were injured after a bus carrying 40 Chinese tourists crashed into a truck on a mountain pass in the northern province of Lao Cai on Wednesday, local media reported.
According to the national radio broadcaster VOV, at around 8 a.m the bus collided head-on with the truck. A 55-year-old man then crashed his motorbike into the bus from behind. He died at the scene.
At least 15 people on the bus were injured. The bus, which also carried two tour guides, turned on its side following the collision.
The injured passengers were rushed to a local hospital.
Initial information from local police suggested that bus's brake system may have failed. It was on its way from the resort town of Sa Pa to Lao Cai Town, according to VOV.
