World Bank to help Vietnam develop technology

The World Bank said Thursday it would assist in the development of science and technology in Vietnam, according to a report on the government website.

The Washington-based lender will help the country organize a conference and launch a project on technology renovation this year, Vice President Janamitra Devan said at his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan in Hanoi.

Devan said the public sector should lead while the private sector will provide the environment for science and technology development.
