Vietnam will help Russian companies exploit oil along the country's continental shelf, President Truong Tan Sang told Russia's Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on Thursday.
Medvedev said the Russian government would continue creating convenient conditions for the countries' oil and gas join-venture to conduct projects, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
The two leaders were meeting in Moscow as Sang was leading a high-ranking delegation to that country on July 26-30.
At the meeting, Sang and Medvedev also pledged that the countries would improve cooperation in defense and military techniques in the future.
They expressed their appreciation for their joint-achievements in oil and gas, and nuclear power, with Vietnam's first nuclear plant in the central province of Ninh Thuan slated to be designed by Russians, the report said.
