Vietnam and Timor-Leste on Monday signed a framework convention on technical and economic cooperation as part of President José Ramos Horta's visit to Vietnam.
Ramos-Horta, whose three-day trip began on Monday, said Timor-Leste planned to open an embassy in Hanoi next year.
Also at a meeting with President Nguyen Minh Triet in Hanoi on the same day, Ramos-Horta said that his country would continue importing rice and consumer goods from Vietnam.
The two leaders agreed to improve trade and investment promotion between the two countries.
In other diplomatic news, two naval ships with 565 officers and sailors from the Royal Thai Naval Academy began their three-day visit to the central city of Danang on Tuesday .
During their stay, the crew met the High Command of the Military Zone No.5 and Naval Zone C.
