Vietnam signs agreements with Belarus

Vietnam and Belarus on Thursday signed several agreements in various fields on the first day of President Nguyen Minh Triet's four-day visit to the European country.

The agreements include one on agriculture between the two countries' agriculture ministries, and one between Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security and Belarus' Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Triet and President Alexander Lukashenko also signed a Vietnam Belarus joint-statement, agreeing that the two countries would expand and enhance cooperation in industry, oil and gas, and culture among others.

Also on Thursday, Communist Party Chief Nong Duc Manh met with a high-ranking delegation from the Bangladesh's Communist Party, led by the party's president Manjurul Ahsan Khan.

The official visit also included the delegation's participation in a two-day international conference on the legacies of Vietnam's former president Ho Chi Minh which wrapped up the same day.
