Vietnam, Russia presidents hold talks

President Truong Tan Sang concluded his talks with visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday afternoon in Hanoi, Vietnam News Agency reported.

Putin and his high-ranking Russian delegation arrived in the capital that morning for a one-day state visit aimed at boosting the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

In the afternoon, a reception ceremony hosted by President Sang was held at the Presidential Palace.

The ceremony was also attended by deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan, Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, and Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan.

The two presidents held talks after the ceremony.

Details of the talks had not been released as of press time.

Putin is scheduled to meet with Vietnam Communist Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. Members of the Russian delegation will hold bilateral talks with their Vietnamese counterparts.
