Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung Thursday said Vietnam and China need to facilitate cross-border transport to promote bilateral economic and tourism cooperation.

In a report published on the government website, the premier said the strategic partnership between Vietnam and China was developing in all fields. Trade between the two countries reached US$20 billion in 2009 and is expected to hit $25 billion this year.

Dung's statement on cross-border transportation came as he received visiting chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Ma Biao, in Hanoi.

Ma Biao said his visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi, especially in investment and trade.

He said he expected more than 50 projects worth nearly $1.8 billion in total to be signed during his visit.
