Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung touched down in the Netherlands Sunday for the 2014 Nuclear Security Summit, the government’s website reported.
Dung will deliver a speech at the third biennial summit on Monday to assert Vietnam’s consistent policies of using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and ensuring security.
He will also have bilateral meetings with some foreign leaders at the summit.
The 2014 Nuclear Security Summit will be held on March 24 and 25 in The Hague. Its aim is to combat nuclear terrorism worldwide by preventing dangerous nuclear material from falling into the wrong hands. Fifty-three countries and four international organizations will participate.
The first summit was held in Washington D.C. (US) in 2010 and the second was hosted by South Korea in 2012. Dung took part in both.
