Vietnam, Laos target $2 bln trade by 2015

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Lao counterpart Thongsing Thammavong on Friday agreed agreed to increase bilateral trade between the two countries to US$2 billion by 2015, Vietnam News Agency reported.

At the meeting that took place in Vientiane, the leaders also agreed to continue improving multifaceted cooperation in security, national defense, culture, education and other fields according to the news agency.

Dung, on an official visit to Laos, stressed that Vietnam will continue supporting Laos in making an entrance the World Trade Organization, VNA reported

The Vietnamese leader pledged Vietnam's support to Laos in organizing the upcoming 7th Asia-Europe Meeting next year.

Dung also met with Lao President Choummaly Sayasone and President of the National Assembly Pany Yathotou, as well as officials at the Vietnamese Embassy and Vietnamese living in Laos.

During his visit, the PM will attend a conference on investment cooperation between the two countries.
