Vietnam has protested China's recent geological exploration activity off the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes, the foreign ministry spokesperson said Monday.

"Vietnam protests China's activities that violate Vietnam's sovereignty and jurisdiction, and demands that China immediately stop them and not let similar activities take place again," Nguyen Phuong Nga said at press briefing held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On August 2, China's state-run Xinhua News Agency reported that from June 13 and July 30, China's Geological Exploration Bureau cooperated with France on exploration activities west of Hoang Sa and north of Truong Sa.
