A hotline between the foreign ministries of Vietnam and China was launched Friday, aimed to help the countries resolve sea-related matters, Vietnamnet reported.
At the launching ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son and his Chinese counterpart Zhang Zhijun held a phone talk during which they pledged to launch mechanisms of negotiation over sea issues and tackle arisen problems in a timely fashion to maintain peace in the East Sea, the newswire quoted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as saying.
The officials also reiterated that the ministries will closely cooperate to improve the strategic and all-ground partnership between Vietnam and China, according the ministry.
Earlier on February 27-28, Son met with Zhang in Beijing, where they agreed on a couple of actions to implement the ground rules on resolving sea issues that the countries signed last year, the report said.
Among the actions will be the establishment of delegations to negotiate the division of waters outside the entrance of the Bac Bo Gulf, and cooperation to develop the waters, it said.
