UN secretary-general to visit Vietnam

Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon will make his first official visit to Vietnam this October 28-30, local news website Vietnamnet reported.

 

During his visit, Ban will meet with Communist Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, President Nguyen Minh Triet, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem, the news source quoted the UN in Vietnam as saying.

 

He will also attend the third ASEAN UN summit scheduled for October 29 in Hanoi, it said.

 

Before coming to Vietnam, Ban will have visited Thailand and Cambodia as part of his official visit to Asia, Vietnamnet said. 

Ban will proceed to China after his visit to Vietnam.
