The South African consulate in Ho Chi Minh City held a week-long tribute to former president, statesman, and freedom fighter Nelson Mandela, who died in Johannesburg on December 5.

Many foreign diplomats, local officials, and members of the public, including South African expats, came to pay tributes to one of the world's most adored and respected men.

An icon of the anti-Apartheid fight in his home country, Mandela died at 95 following numerous health issues in recent years.

The ceremony, which began Monday, ends at 6 p.m. Friday at the consulate, 25 Phung Khac Khoan Street, District 1.
