Sweden will take action to stop the closure of its embassy in Hanoi, the Embassy of Sweden said in a statement on its website Tuesday.
According to the release, the Swedish government and the Social Democratic Party have agreed upon the allocation of the funds for the Government Offices, which means the government will take urgent action to stop the closure of the embassies in Angola, Argentina, Malaysia and Vietnam.
Counselor Henrik Gorbow of the Embassy of Sweden told Thanh Nien the Swedish parliament had recently decide not to cut funding for the Government Offices by US$47 million as it announced last December.
He said the move will allow the Swedish foreign ministry to retain the embassies in the above-mentioned countries.
Last March, the embassy announced it would be closed in December this year.
