Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will visit Vietnam next week, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Thursday.

The visit, from September 11 to 13 and at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung, will be his fourth to Vietnam after earlier ones in 2004 and 2010 as PM and in 2000 as Deputy PM.

PM  Dung met Lee on May 31 as he stayed in Singapore for the 12th Shangri-La Dialogue, the annual Southeast Asian security forum with countries like China and the US, on May 31 and June 1.

At their meeting the two agreed to boost political and economic relations besides defense, education, culture, and tourism ties, and hoped to sign a strategic partnership agreement during Lee's visit.

Vietnam and Singapore established diplomatic relations in 1973.
