Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has ordered the dismissal of a high-ranking official in the northern province of Ha Giang following a request by Communist Party inspectors.
Nguyen Truong To is dismissed from his posts as chairman of Ha Giang People's Committee and deputy of Ha Giang People's Council, which acts as the provincial legislature, and his case will be reviewed by PM Dung, according to a statement on the government website Sunday.
The Party's Secretariat on Sunday also announced a decision to expell To from the Party, local media reported.
The government statement did not give details on reasons for the dismissal.
Communist Party inspectors earlier this month recommended the dismissal of To due to his "unhealthy relations" and "self-indulgent lifestyle."
According to Tuoi Tre, To, 57, was admitted to the Party in 1984. He was elected chairman of Ha Giang People's Committee in 2005.
