Vietnam will save more than VND6 trillion (US$320 million) if it can reduce 256 out of over 5,700 administrative procedures in effect, a local official told the VnExpress newswire.
“So far the 256 procedures have undergone reviews, and we’ll report to the Prime Minister and the government for considering and deciding whether to remove, adjust or improve them,†said Nguyen Xuan Phuc, head of the Government Office.
Phuc said the procedures, which were selected from those currently applied at 18 ministries and six localities, needed to be prioritized in the reform process.
It will offer a preparation for them to review and check other procedures, the official noted, adding that it was the second stage of Project No.30, which aims to simplify administrative procedures between 2007 and 2010.
Phuc said they had already invited 50 leading lawyers and foreign experts to help with the plan’s second stage.
The first stage, which targeted the publishing of a national database of administrative procedures was successfully completed last year, he said.
