The German government on Thursday signed a commitment to support Vietnam with US$375.67 million for development projects in the next two years.
The German government also promised to give Vietnam one million euros (US$1.3 million) from its Energy and Climate Fund for flood recovery in the Mekong Delta.
The flooding in early November killed 85 people, most of them children, and affected nearly 600,000 people in seven provinces in the delta, causing an estimated $190 million in property damage.
Southern Vietnam witnesses seasonal floods every September, but the waters this year reached the highest levels in a decade.
The two countries during the meeting also agreed to further their cooperation in environment protection and climate change adaptation programs.
