Germany will continue prioritizing the provision of aids to Vietnam in the coming years, along with over US$400 million in development aid and preferential loans to its cooperative development projects here.

The pledges were made under an agreement on strategic partnership signed Tuesday between Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and visting German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Hanoi.

The agreement covers cooperation in many areas including politics, trade and investment, and environmental protection, culture, technology and telecommunication.

Merkel, who concluded her two day visit to Vietnam on October 11-12, also met with Nguyen Sinh Hung, chairman of Vietnam National Assembly.
