Fishermen in central Vietnam on Friday reported another violent attack by a Chinese boat in Vietnamese waters.
Mai Thanh Trung said the attack happened on August 18 when he and six others were sailing from the waters near Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands back to the mainland of Khanh Hoa Province, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.
Trung said that “a very big boat” with Chinese words painted on it followed them and rammed into one side of their boat.
His boat was shaking strongly and almost capsized, the 41-year-old said.
“While three of the Chinese held us at one end of the boat, others went on to damage the cabin, took communication devices, all the machines and our entire catch,” he said, as cited by Tuoi Tre.
Trung said he was also beaten and the Chinese only left after three hours.
Many attacks by Chinese vessels have been reported over the past months.
