The Asian Development Bank (ADB) Wednesday launched a project to provide technical assistance in urban development to three Vietnamese cities, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
The Manila-based lender pledged $1 million to the project, which will help Tam Ky, Buon Ma Thuot and Ha Tinh cities improve their transport and drainage systems, prevent flooding and improve solid waste management.
The short-term goal of the project is to enable the cities improve their investment planning, meeting environment and social safety regulations of Vietnam and the ADB.
Tam Ky, Buon Ma Thuot and Ha Tinh, classified as "level 2" cities in Vietnam, are respectively located in Quang Nam, Dak Lak and Ha Tinh provinces.
Along with Da Nang City, these cities are expected to spearhead economic development in the East-West Corridor and the central region.
