'Meet Vietnam' in California to promote trade, investment
Vietnam will hold the first-ever promotional event in California state later this month, highlighting the nation’s achievements and its development potential.

Local newswire Vietnamnet reported on Wednesday that the November 15-16 event, titled “Meet Vietnam”, will host an investment forum and promote foreign trade.

Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with several related agencies, “Meet Vietnam” will have over 200 American investors and representatives from Vietnam’s large cities like Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Can Tho, participating in it.

Conferences on various fields including education, information technology and tourism as well as cultural performances will be held during the event, which also exhibit several books on Vietnam and its achievements, the country’s contemporary and traditional arts. These will introduce various aspects of the country to Californian authorities, businesses and Vietnamese residents of the state.

The event, to be held at the San Francisco City Hall, partly aims to give the Vietnamese community in California, who account for nearly 50 percent of overseas Vietnamese in the world, an accurate picture of the country and encourage them to make more contributions to its economic and social development, Vietnamnet quoted the ministry as saying.
