The agreement was reached at the 8th meeting of the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committee on Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technological Cooperation held in Vietnam’s ancient imperial city of Hue.
The groupings mentioned included the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), the Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) subregion and the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) region.
The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pham Gia Khiem, Chairman of the Vietnamese subcommittee; and Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hor Namhong, Chairman of the Cambodian subcommittee.
The two sides reviewed the implementation of agreements reached at the 7th meeting.
They pledged to complete the planting of markers to define their border by 2008, thereby building a common border of peace, cooperation and development.
The two sides agreed to hold the 9th meeting of the joint committee in Cambodia in 2007.
