The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has voiced Vietnam’s opposition to and dismissed China’s unilateral ban on fishing in the East Sea for the next two-and-a half months, Vietnam News Agency reported.

The economic situation is becoming “very difficult” and the government must "get serious" about finding strong solutions including large spending cuts, said legislators at a meeting Tuesday.

The World Bank has agreed to provide Vietnam with three concessional loans worth a total US$400 million to help the country reform its economic management and education system.
