A replica one-pillar pagoda, identical to Hanoi’s Mot Cot Pagoda, was inaugurated in Thailand’s Khon Kaen Province Saturday.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Nguyen Duy Hung and Consul-General in Khon Kaen Tran Nguyen Truc attended the inauguration.
Construction of the replica pagoda in Thailand began in July 2007 and cost 1.7 million baht (US$53,050), of which $31,600 was funded by the province’s Council and the rest by Vietnamese-Thai people.
The original Mot Cot Pagoda in Hanoi was built in 1049.
