Online appointment US visa system launched in Vietnam
The US Embassy in Hanoi and the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City have announced a new online appointment system for people applying for nonimmigrant visas, including students, business people and tourists.

Applications for appointments are available at http://hochiminh.usconsulate.gov for applicants applying at the US Consulate General in HCMC and at http://hanoi.usembassy.gov for applicants applying at the US Embassy in Hanoi.

Effective from March 29, 2008, all appointments for nonimmigrant visa interviews must be made online and Citibank will no longer be authorized to schedule appointments.

The new web-based appointment system is free of charge but applicants must continue to pay the US$131 nonimmigrant visa application fee at Citibank in HCMC or Hanoi.

Applicants may schedule interview appointments up to a month in advance and can choose any available appointment time.

Changing an appointment time can also be done online without contacting the Consulate General or the Embassy.
