Chungnam Foreign Language High School students at the fundraiser
Students of Chungnam Foreign Language High School in South Korean’s Chungcheong Province held a fundraiser on August 26 to help students at Binh Hoa Elementary School in Vietnam’s central province of Quang Ngai.
Launched by Tuan Jeon, a student majoring in Vietnamese at the school, the campaign has collected US$800 and 420 packages of colored pencils, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported Saturday.
Tuan said his activity not only aims to help Vietnamese students, but also to educate South Korean youths about Vietnam.
Picking the Vietnamese name Tuan for himself, he has learned Vietnamese and wants to become the South Korea’s best Vietnamese speaker.
The young man also dreams of further connecting the Vietnamese and South Korean peoples and of one day becoming South Korea’s Ambassador in Vietnam.
