A work by Dang Viet Linh, one of the 26 paintings on display at the Danish Embassy in Hanoi from August 30 to February, 2014
For six months, paintings by up-and-coming as well as established Vietnamese artists will adorn the interior walls of the Danish Embassy in Hanoi.
In all there will be 26 selected paintings in an array of genres at the exhibition from August 30 to the end of February next year.
The 16 artists to be represented are Ngo Chinh, Pham Luc, Hoang Thi My Yen, Le Thi Minh Tam, Nguyen Quynh Na, Trinh Minh Tien, Nguyen Duc Dan, Pham Duy Quynh, Nguyen Khanh Toan, Vu Cuong, Hoang Tung, Truong The Linh, Nguyen Xuan Chien, Nguyen Dinh Duy Quyen, Dang Viet Linh, and Nguyen Quoc Thang.
Five of the exhibits are by the celebrated Pham Luc and three will be famous works by Ngo Chinh. The remaining 18 paintings have been carefully chosen by a board to give talented newcomers a wider audience.
Among Vietnam’s contemporary artists, 70-year-old Pham Luc is the first and only one to have his own painting club. Its 100 members collect and exhibit Luc’s 6,000 works every year.
His five exhibits at the Danish embassy come from the private collection of Nguyen Si Dung, deputy director of the parliament office and one of Luc’s most loyal fans and collectors.
The Danish Embassy is located at 19 Dien Bien Phu Street, Hanoi.
