ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) honored Vietnam’s women's squad as South East Asia’s No.1 female football team of the year.
The Vietnamese women won the award because they won the AFF’s Women Football championship in 2012.
The team’s goalkeeper Dang Thi Kieu Trinh also won the title “South East Asia’s Best Goalkeeper of the Year” because of her contributions to winning the championship for Vietnam.
Speaking to Thanh Nien, Trinh said: “I’m very happy with the title. It indicates that Vietnamese football is still a strong team in South East Asia. This achievement can encourage me and my teammates to play better at the South East Asian Games 2013 in Myanmar.”
The awards ceremony will be held in Kuala Lumpur on April 3.
This is the first time the AFF has organized this titles-voting event.
