Hong Kong-based Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh and her husband, world motor racing chief Jean Todt, will visit Ho Chi Minh City in November at the invitation of Vietnamese actress and businesswoman Ly Nha Ky.
Ky, Vietnam's first Tourism Ambassador, visited France last September for the Paris Fashion Week where she also called on the “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” star and invited her to visit Vietnam.
Yeoh has been to Vietnam before, in 2008, as an ambassador of the Asia Injury Prevention's “Make Roads Safe” project to propagate the use of crash helmets.
In 2011 Ky’s appointment as Tourism Ambassador caused a stir due to the scandals associated with her.
He one-year ambassador tenure ended in September, but she continues since a successor has not been found yet.
Nguyen Van Tinh, head of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's International Relations Department, said if there is no deserving replacement, Ky would continue.
Ky has said she would be pleased to do so.
Meanwhile, she has been acting in Mua He Lanh (Cold Summer,) a film by noted director Ngo Quang Hai that releases in December.
