An international scientific colloquium in preparation for the biggest archeological exhibition on the early days pf Hanoi's Thang Long royal citadel will take place from February 29 to March 2 in Hanoi.
According to a press release from organizers at the Goethe Institute Hanoi, 22 lectures will aim to give an overview of Vietnam’s rich culture, ranging from the Stone Age up to the recent past. The conference was inspired by the fact that Germany plans to host the largest-ever exhibition of Vietnamese archeology in 2014-2015.
Renowned experts will comment on a number of archeological as well as historical questions from various fields.
Special attention will be given to the cultures of Northern Vietnam, such as Dong Son culture (2,000BC-200AD) as well as current research on the citadel of Thang Long. Ancient cultures from other parts of Vietnam will also be discussed.
Professor Sabine von Schorlemmer of the Saxon State Minister for Science and the Arts will open the conference together with the head of the Ministry for Culture, Sport and Tourism in Vietnam .
