Police in Hanoi arrested a man Tuesday for smuggling ten kilograms of gold on a bus.
The ten one-kilogram gold bars were carried in a bag by Dang Minh Tuan, 26, from Nghe An Province, around 250-400 kilometers from Hanoi. The gold bars were allegedly brought into the country from abroad.
Tuan was also found with 100 Canadian dollars, 300 British pounds and 1,700 euros in an envelope.
Tuan said he was carrying the gold from Nghe An to Hanoi for another person, whose identity was not released.
Police have valued the gold at around VND12 billion (US$571,500) and have sent the metal out for testing.
