The Can Tho Eye – Odonto & Stomatology Hospital has received 168 red eye patients a day, five times the normal, and many of these had to be hospitalized as the condition had turned serious.
The city General Hospital has also received three times more conjunctivitis patients than normal at around 70-80 a day, while the Can Tho Children’s Hospital is overloaded with 100 children coming for examination and treatment with sore eyes every day.
Doctors at the Can Tho Eye – Odonto & Stomatology Hospital have warned of a widespread outbreak in the area, especially in schools.
