The outbreak happened amongst a 400-chicken flock in Cao Lanh District’s Tan Hoi Trung commune.

The avian flu still plagues six provinces including Bac Giang, Thai Binh, Ca Mau, Ninh Binh, Dien Bien, and Dong Thap.  

Based on Health Ministry regulations, an area is recognized as officially bird flu-free once no new case has been recognized in 21 consecutive days.

Ten days ago, Ca Mau became the first southern province wiped off the bird-flu free list.

Since the beginning of the year, 153.5 million fowls have undergone a mass national vaccination throughout the country.
