Health authorities in Vietnam have ordered relevant companies to stop distributing a French-made typhoid vaccine due to concern over its low quality.
Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City Health Departments were told by the Drug Management Department at the Health Ministry to inform two local importers of the order.
May Cosmetics and Pharmaceuticals JSC in Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Thuy Investment Development and Consultancy have been distributing Typhim Vi, which is manufactured by the world's leading vaccine distributor Sanofi Pasteur of France.
The department said it had found insufficient levels of antigens in the vaccine in five batchments E1293, G0461, H0495, H0078, and H0101.
It asked the companies to revoke the distributed vaccine by the end of November and to monitor those who have already received injections from the batchments as well as others.
