A 13-month-old boy is recovering after 20 days of treatment for multiple injures caused by a fall from the fifth floor of a hotel in the central city of Da Nang.
Mai Huy Hoang was released from a local hospital on Friday, online newspaper VnExpress reported Saturday.
The child was admitted to Da Nang General Hospital on June 10 with brain trauma, a damaged lung and broken legs, among other injuries, according to the report.
He was later transferred to Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children, where he was placed in the intensive care unit until he recovered and was discharged.
Local doctors said it was astounding that the boy lived considering his injuries, the newspaper reported.
According to his family from the northerly province of Nam Dinh, they were packing to check out of their hotel in Da Nang as Hoang played by himself.
He opened the window of their fifth floor room and accidentally fell to the ground, losing consciousness, they said.
Last year two children died in after falling from buildings in Ho Chi Minh City.
A four-year-old girl fell from the 15th-floor of a building in November as she attempted to catch a falling iPad. The accident happened while her parents were out and she was being watched by a neighbor.
One month later, a five-year-old boy fell from a fifth-floor balcony. He had been left locked in his home by his mother.
