The Thai Business Association in Vietnam donated VND43.4 million (US$2,106) to an organization that provides free cataract surgeries to the needy.
The donation was raised through a charity bowling tournament which was held on May 29 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The association hopes that the funds will provide free surgeries to about 150 poor cataract patients.
On Wednesday, the Thai Business Association delivered the donation to the HCMC Sponsor Association for Poor Patients and a group of volunteer doctors and nurses from Trung Vuong Hospital, who plan to carry out the procedures in July.
The donation was organized to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic relations (August 6, 1976).
