A psychiatric clinic in southern Vietnam on Tuesday said a male nurse succumbed to massive burns over his body after he was set on fire by a mentally ill man last month.
Vo Van Dau, 26, had been treated at Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.
The incident happened on July 12 when Dau and two other nurses from the Mental Hospital of Tien Giang Province came to the man's house.
Some relatives of the man, identified only as Tri, had called the clinic for help, saying that he had brought home a can of gasoline and was about to set fire to his house.
When the nurses came, however, Tri suddenly doused Dau in gasoline and set fire on him.
Doctors at Cho Ray Hospital said Dau succumbed to liver failure and blood poisoning.
