Vietnam has recorded no new human cases of H5N1 infection since July, Nguyen Van Binh, deputy chief of the health ministry's Preventive Health Department said Friday.

There has also been no sign of an avian flu outbreak among the poultry stock, according to the latest report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

However, the ministry warned that people, especially farming households, need to stay alert and report immediately to local animal health agencies any sign of the epidemic.

Seven human cases of H5N1 have been recorded in the country so far this year, including two deaths - a 38-year-old from the Mekong Delta' Tien Giang Province in February and a 3-year-old in Ho Chi Minh City in March.
