More than 200 workers making cuddly toys in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang were hospitalized with food poisoning symptoms Monday after having lunch at their factory.
Bui Van Nghieu, director of Cai Be District General Hospital which received half of the workers, said the workers suffered from headache, dizziness, vomitting and stomachache.
The hospital was full and the other half of workers, who had less severe conditions, were sent to the Cai Ly District General Hospital nearly 20 kilometers away.
Workers said the company kitchen had served a lunch of tuna cooked with pineapple, bamboo sprouts soup and fermented vegetables.
The workers are employees of Dream Mekong, which belongs to the South Korean garment firm C&H International.
Local health officials have taken food samples and are investigating the cause of the poisoning.
