Work started Tuesday in the Mekong Delta on the region's most modern drug, cosmetic and food testing center.
The Can Tho center will costs more than VND218 billion (US$11.4 million).
Local authorities plan to use the center as a means of controlling drug and cosmetic quality in the area as well as reducing food poisoning and diseases related to unhygienic foods.
The facility is expected to function as a link between the National Examination Center and city/provincial units.
The center is being funded by the Can Tho Health Department and built by the Hanoi Housing Development and Investment Joint Stock Company.
Construction is expected to take 18 months, after which the facility will begin work right away.
