Every woman wants to keep her skin beautiful. Many spend large portions of their money on face and hand creams to protect their skin in hot and sunny Vietnam.

However, vegetables known to be good for the skin and body are much cheaper than cosmetics.

According to experts, the nutritional content of vegetables varies considerably, though generally they contain little protein or fat and varying proportions of vitamins, provitamins, dietary minerals, fiber and carbohydrates. Brightly-colored fruits and vegetables are usually rich in various nutrients and powerful antioxidants, which help guard against the aging process.

The key to healthy skin is eating a variety of fruits and vegetables regularly. Here are some ways Hoang Khanh Toan from Hospital 108 recommends getting nourishment and protecting your skin with vegetables.

Bí Ä‘ao (winter melon)

Winter melon is sweet and cool when eaten. It nourishes, smoothens and whitens the skin.

One way to reap the benefits of the fruit is to boil a chopped up melon in a pot with 500ml of water and 500ml of white rice alcohol until the pieces of fruit are well done. Throw the residue away and keep the water. Add 250g of white sugar and cook and stir until the sugar is melted. Now mix the water with an egg white and apply the mixture on your face.

A dietary supplement to nourish and whiten skin can be easily made by drying and grinding 15g of winter melon seeds, 6g of tangerine skin and 12g of peach blossom. You should enjoy one spoon of the mixed powder with cooked rice-water after each meal, three times a day, for a month.

Dưa chuá»™t (cucumber)

Cucumber, which is sweet and cool, is often used to prevent wrinkles. The simplest way is to wash one cucumber, grind and squeeze it then apply the substance on your face a few times a day. Or cut the cucumber into thin pieces and place them like a mask on your face. Another way is to cut the cucumber into thin pieces, and boil them with fresh cow's milk. Let them stand still until they get cold. Apply them on your face twice a day. Or you can try to mix squeezed cucumber, squeezed bồ công anh (dandelion), squeezed lemon and fresh cow's milk one bowl of each then rub the mixture on the skin twice a day.

Cà rốt (carrot)

Carrot, which is sweet, is used to treat dry skin, blackheads and pimples. Carrot is rich in vitamins A, B and C, as well as dietary fibre, antioxidants, minerals and beta-carotene, which helps fight pre-mature aging. Vitamin C, which is highly beneficial to the skin, promotes and protects collagen. Collagen provides support and elasticity to your skin, delaying the onset of wrinkles. The simplest way to reap the skin benefits of a carrot is to drink its juice, or rub the juice on the skin twice every day. Or mix a half of carrot and apple, 20g of rau mùi (coriandrum sativum) and two pieces of lemon into a combination beverage. You can also mix 50g of carrot, 50g rau cn (water dropwort), a half apple, one pear and one sixth of lemon for an anti-pimple drink that can also make freckles fainter.
