Tran Viet Van, an award-winning international photographer from Hanoi, captured Vietnamese children in the Central Highlands working to make ends meet and entertaining themselves with makeshift toys along the way.
Van, who working for Lao Dong newspaper, has had eight individual exhibitions and joined a photographer training course hosted by Indochina Media Memorial Foundation, which was founded in London in 1991 in memory of journalists who died covering the Indochina conflicts from 1945 to 1975.
His works are collected by the US initiative WIN which stands for Worldwide Image Navigation, a collection of independent minds and creative perspectives from gifted photographers worldwide.
The 43-year-old has received honorable mentions for several years at Europe’s leading photography competition Px3 in Paris and similar recognition from the International Photography Award.
He won top award at Australia’s photo contest “People and Planet” in 2011, after taking the same position at the Worldwide Photography Gala Awards in the UK the same year.
