Two modern ballet pieces by the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet and Orchestra will premier at the city's Opera House this Friday (April 19).

The contemporary dances are Tram (Deep) and Ngay hom qua (Yesterday), written and choreographed by Nguyen Phuc Hai and Nguyen Phuc Hung.

Tram (Music: Le trio Joubran) starring Phi Diep and Thu Trang, is about young people who, despite the rapid changes in society, sometimes stop or slow down, to think more about life.

Ngay hom qua is performed by the whole ballet team and features the music of Paul McCartney. It recalls the past that people living the modern life have no space in the memory bank for.

The two ballet acts are followed by four old pieces - Water, Pieces of dreams, a solo and a duet, and Motion - to which new elements have been added to attract the audience.

Tickets priced between VND80,000 (for students only) to VND400,000 are available at the venue 7 Lam Son Square, District 1, Tel: 08. 38237419

Phuc Hai and Phuc Hung, brothers, are currently working on two new ballet projects   Cham tay vao qua khu (Touching the past) and the classic Co be lo lem (Cinderella), to be staged in July and August.
