Brits bring Dickens’ timeless Christmas classic to Vietnam
Scrooge (L) and a Christmas ghost that changes his life in 'A Christmas Carol'
Hoping not to get overshadowed by the computer graphics-infused Hollywood film of the same name, a stage version of Charles Dickens’ holiday tale.

“A Christmas Carol” is playing for Vietnamese audiences for the first time this winter.

“A Christmas Carol,” first published in 1843, tells the tale of the cruel Ebenezer Scrooge, a rich but hateful old man, and his redemptive visions he has on Christmas Eve.

Visited by various ghosts, Scrooge learns the evil of his ways when revisiting his past and catching a glimpse of his future.

The play will be performed in five Vietnamese cities by Britain’s TNT Theater, who enchanted Ho Chi Minh City audiences with an innovative production of “Romeo and Juliet” last May. For “A Christmas Carol,” TNT’s 6 members will play all 25 roles while also playing and singing the production’s music and songs.

Before Vietnam, TNT took the show through Japan, Britain, Singapore, and Thailand. The troupe’s trans-Vietnam tour, November 24 through December 5 includes Quy Nhon, HCMC, Da Nang, Hue and Hanoi.

Ticket prices range from VND100,000 to VND200,000 (US$5.5–11) in Quy Nhon, Da Nang and Hue. In HCMC and Hanoi, the cost is from VND150,000 to VND450,000 ($8.3–25).

More information can be obtained at www.lequyduong.com or email achristmascarol@lequyduong.com.
