Ho Chi Minh City’s Information and Culture Department has agreed to provide scholarships to 10 young local ballet dancers to train for six years at the Guangxi Art Institute in China.
All aged six to 12, they belong to the Nhung ngoi sao nho (Little Stars) team at the Bong Sen theatre of traditional music and dance, a prestigious city theatre.
It was set up by distinguished dancers Vuong Linh and Dang Hung in a bid to improve ballet dancing in Vietnam which, according to Hung, does not attract much interest.
